iflaked FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is iflaked?

iflaked is a free online tool that generates realistic excuses for canceling plans. Whether you need to bail on a friend, skip a date, avoid a family gathering, call in sick to work, or duck out of a group hangout, iflaked creates believable text message conversations you can screenshot and share. It's designed for entertainment purposes and to help introverts everywhere feel less guilty about needing alone time.

How does iflaked work?

Using iflaked is simple. First, select who you're flaking on: friend, date, family, work, or group chat. Then, choose how serious your excuse needs to be using the intensity slider. The levels range from "Chill" (you just don't feel like going) all the way up to "Nuclear" (something catastrophic happened). Hit generate, and iflaked creates a realistic message conversation with an incoming message from your contact and your excuse response. You can then screenshot it or copy the text directly.

Is iflaked free to use?

Yes, iflaked is completely free. There's no sign-up required, no premium features locked behind a paywall, and no limits on how many excuses you can generate. Just visit the site and start generating excuses immediately.

What do the intensity levels mean?

The intensity slider lets you control how serious your excuse sounds. "Chill" excuses are casual and honest. You're just tired or not in the mood. "Valid" excuses are more substantial but still low-stakes. "Serious" excuses involve minor emergencies or health issues. "Emergency" level includes urgent situations that demand immediate attention. "Nuclear" is reserved for catastrophic events that no reasonable person would question. Choose based on how badly you need to cancel and how much you want to commit to the bit.

Should I actually use these excuses?

iflaked is designed for entertainment purposes. While the excuses are written to sound believable, we encourage honest communication with the people in your life. That said, sometimes you just need an out, and we're not here to judge. The disclaimer on the site says it best: "Please don't actually lie to people you care about. Or do. We're not your mom."

Can I suggest new excuses or features?

We'd love to hear from you. Reach out on social media @iflakedon on X and Instagram, or @iflaked on TikTok. If you've used an excuse in real life that worked perfectly (or hilariously backfired), let us know. The best suggestions might make it into the app.
